The 1999 Zumbro Valley Open Powerlifting Championship was held in the Kasson-Mantorville gymnasium on Saturday, April 24 with 49 Men and Women lifters. Brad Madvig, had a fine day lifting 710 in the Squat, 480 in the Bench, and 650 in the Deadlift with a total of 1840. The Womens top lifter was Angela Simons lifting 245 in the Squat, 215 in the Bench, and 300 in the Deadlift with a total of 760. Meet Director, Steve Johnson, would like to thank the lifters for coming, and the following people who assisted in making the meet a success: Jeff Rendler, Scott Rendler, Charlie Bradford, Archie Langdon, Frank Miller, Gary Glawe, John Lynch, Mike McNeill, Curt Horkey, Don Coughlon, Billing Gullickson, Scott Safe, Jim Coughlon, Marlene Couglon, Tess Johnson, Curtis Johnson, Karl Gillingham, Halee Johnson, and Dawn Johnson. Referees Dennis Green, Daryl Schmidt, Eric Alter, Angela Simons, Keith Hare and Rick Stanius. Also a thank you to Safe USA who provided invaluable support, the Northland Trophy for supplying their usual fine trophies and awards, and the Kasson-Mantorville High School for the use of their excellent facilities. A special thank you is also in order to Dawn Johnson who worked so ably at the scorers table as well as assisting in organizing the meet.
