MN Powerlifting News

Maura does a Warrior Dash!

MAD: I heard a Powerlifter did something called... running.  I have heard of it before in context to hitting the buffet. But this person did it for fun... very odd. Curious I investigated and I asked Maura Shuttleworth who did this running thing an even called the 'Warrior Dash'

From Maura Shuttleworth about the "Warrior Dash'

Many eons ago I was a runner.  Believe it or not, I have run two half-marathons and countless 10Ks and 5Ks. But that was another life. Then, I became a powerlifter. Until this year, eight years after I quit running, Nemesis training partner, Christian Fite, pressured me into training for the Warrior Dash. For those of you who have not heard of it, the Warrior Dash is a 5K race with obstacles. The obstacles in my particular Warrior Dash included leaping over fire, running through mud, climbing a wall, climbing over cargo nets, and ski hills! Somehow, this made running seem fun.  I guess a lot of other people feel that way too. There were 24,000 participants or so in the Warrior Dash I participated in. read more
